Sharp is a one-time purchase from the App Store. There is no subscription, no account and no data collection. You may use it on your own devices for as long as you like. It is a motivational quote app, not advice.
Your licence to use Sharp is granted under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, which applies to every app sold on the App Store and which governs your purchase. This page sits alongside it: it explains, in plain language, what Sharp is and what we undertake as its maker — Mohammad Rafi Zahedi, who publishes Sharp under the name Luxsoft, in British Columbia, Canada (“we”, “us”). Where anything here differs from Apple’s standard EULA, the term more favourable to you applies, and nothing here reduces any right that agreement or the law gives you.
A one-time purchase of a licence to use Sharp on the devices associated with your Apple Account, under the App Store’s usual family-sharing and re-download rules. There is no subscription and nothing recurring. Sharp needs no account, no internet connection and no ongoing service from us in order to work.
Sharp’s lines are either original writing by us, or public-domain writing by authors long out of copyright. For an attributed line we require both that the author’s work is out of copyright and that the words can be traced to something published before 1930 — a great many widely repeated quotations fail the second test, having been attached to a famous name long after that person died, and those are left out. Original lines remain our copyright. You are of course free to repeat any of them to another human being; you are not free to ship them in a competing product.
Sharp shows motivational quotations. They are not medical, psychological, financial, legal or professional advice, and they are not a substitute for care from a qualified person. If you are struggling, please talk to someone who can help.
We may update Sharp, change which lines it contains, or stop selling it. A copy you have already bought keeps working on your device regardless; because Sharp needs no server, nothing we do can switch it off.
Apple processes every App Store purchase, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves. Nothing here limits any refund or remedy you are entitled to under consumer protection law.
Sharp is provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of the app is limited to what you paid for it.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights. Many jurisdictions — British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act among them — give consumers guarantees that cannot be waived by contract. Where that is so, those rights prevail over anything written here.
Sharp is sold through the App Store, and Apple’s standard terms set out how that works. For the avoidance of doubt:
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. Disputes may be brought in the courts of British Columbia. You keep every right you have to bring a claim in your own local courts, in a small claims court, or before a consumer protection authority where you live.
